Definitions / Study Helps
  • Salvation – In Revelation 7:10 we hear the multitude proclaim salvation belonging to God.
    This salvation describes:
    1. Deliverance, preservation, safety, and salvation.
      • Deliverance from the molestation of enemies.
      • In an ethical sense, that which concludes the soul’s safety or salvation.
        1. Of Messianic salvation.
    2. Salvation as the present possession of all true Christians.
    3. Future salvation, the sum of benefits and blessings which the Christians, redeemed from all earthly ills, will enjoy after the visible return of Christ from heaven in the consummated and eternal kingdom of God. Scripture describes a fourfold salvation: saved from the penalty, power, presence and the pleasure of sin, (cf. Arthur W. Pink, A Fourfold Salvation). Later in Revelation 7:14, this salvation is being witnessed by John as he observes those before the throne.
  • Serve – The word for serve is from a word that is often used to describe priestly service (Luke 2:37, Hebrews 8:5, and 13:10).
    1. To serve for hire.
    2. To serve, minister to, either to the gods or men and used alike of slaves and freemen.
      • In the NT, to render religious service or homage, to worship.
      • To perform sacred services, to offer gifts, to worship God in the observance of the rites instituted for his worship.
        1. Of priests, to officiate, to discharge the sacred office.

Questions
((To gain the most from these questions, use your Bible. Rather than creative thinking, seek the Word of God for sound truths.))

  1. How is salvation assured to the child of God even through tribulation and martyrdom? How does the salvation of Christ enable a believer to endure such persecution?
  2. How does so great a salvation change your outlook on life and the application of godliness?
  3. How are the tribulation saints serving God in Heaven?
  4. What is Christian service? How do we serve God today?
  5. Why is it foolish to put the salvation Christ preached to you today and the service unto Christ off to another day?

Sermon Notes
  1. As believers, this world is as close to Hell as we’ll get and everyday we’re drawing closer to Heaven. For unbelievers this world is the closest they’ll ever get to Heaven and each day they’re drawing closer to Hell.
  2. We are Ambassadors of Christ, God is appealing to the world through us.
  3. Alone, salvation is obtained by faith, acquired through repentance, which brings immediate justification and reconciliation with God.
  4. The Tribulation Saints serve God in Heaven with a priestly service.

“May the peace of God be with you always.
Father, You have saved us and made us pure through the blood of Christ.
You Father have called us out of slavery with the world and freed us unto the blessed service of You.
We praise You, thank You, and seek Your leading now as we pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord.”

~ Amen ~

We should let the Holy Spirit work in us and not quench Him, so that way we can be Ambassadors of Christ. And God can appeal to the world through us.
